COBB COUNTY

American Rescue Plan - Food Assistance Program Grant Overview

Congress enacted the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, signed into law on March 11, 2021, to provide needed relief to state, local, and Tribal governments to enable them to continue to respond to the public health emergency COVID-19 and its negative economic impacts. The current public health crisis and resulting economic crisis have devastated the health and economic wellbeing of millions of Americans. As Cobb citizens continue to regain their economic stability, their need for food assistance remains significantly greater than pre-COVID. Providing additional food assistance will alleviate some of the economic and emotional tolls on those families who remain in need.

Cobb County Board of Commissioners (BOC) has authorized $1,500,000.00 in ARP funding to support nonprofits to expand ongoing efforts to provide food assistance for those County residents who are in need due to the ongoing national health crisis.

Eligible activities for the Food Assistance Program include the following:

  • Purchase of Food Vouchers (including Grocery & Restaurant Vouchers)
  • Purchase of Food from Food Banks/Food Pantries
  • Food Distribution
    • Served Meals (Direct Client Benefit)
    • Food Boxes (Direct Client Benefit)
    • Purchase of food to assist other nonprofits with food distribution (at no cost to nonprofits)

A Selection Committee will review all applications for compliance with requirements and make funding recommendations to the Chairwoman and Cobb County BOC.
